CULTURAL FOOD NIGHT — Tonight was Colombian food night. I forgot what everything was named, but it was all good, especially the dessert of banana in sweet orange sauce. Also showed some videos about Colombia … first one is sweet … second one is funny with lots of movie clips involving Colombia … check them out.

Rhode Island food night
CULTURAL FOOD NIGHT — today was Rhode Island food night with lots of shell food … clams, muscles, clam chowder, and the best part … SWEET ICED TEA with LEMON … delicious!
Texas food night
CULTURAL FOOD NIGHT — today was “Texas Food Night” with awesome chilli, cornbread, chips and pecan pie. — God bless Texas!

Mid-West food night
CULTURAL FOOD NIGHT — this Tuesday was (American) Mid-West food night with ribs, steak, corn, potatoes and milk, with Buckeyes for desert. Since I’m originally from Chicago, my limited cooking efforts were contributed. Lots of work … lots of fun … lots of food (especially Buckeyes)!
Cuban food night
Tonight’s CULTURAL FOOD NIGHT featured Cuban food, which I helped (un pocito) with after classes. Chicken & rice (secret ingredient = Corona), plantains (chips & cooked). — Great eatin’ / delicioso!

Chinese New Year food night — Sr Ann May
CULTURAL FOOD NIGHT — tonight was Chinese Food Night, especially since the Chinese New Year in of Feb 7th. Lots of great food and lots of work. We were entertained by a video of Chinese dancing and singing and after dinner, 2 of our seminary student sisters (Daughters of St Paul) performed a traditional Chinese dance. The sad part of the evening, however, was the announcement that Sr Ann May is being transfered to Philadelphia after our mid-semester break in 2 weeks. — we’ll definitely miss her and keep praying for her 😦
Jewish colloquy + Nicaraguan food — “PB”
NEW TESTAMENT – (Fr Michael) — today was “colloquy“ (discussion group) about chapter 5, “The Religious & Philosophical World of New Testament Times,” of Raymond Brown‘s An Introduction to the New Testament. Much of our discussion involved the clashing views of the Jewish Sadducees, Essenes and Pharisees, but also included Greco-Roman Cynics, Epicureans, Stoicism, Sophists and Gnosticism. — stimulating
CULTURAL FOOD NIGHT — tonight was Nicaraguan Food Night. — lots of good flavors.

MASS – (Fr Santos) — [half sandwich Christmas gift] Jesus’ multiplication of 5 loaves & 2 fish. A supernatural miracle by Jesus … or PERHAPS a selfish crowd was moved to give from their personal stash. — Maybe? Just as fantastic of a miracle. Perhaps.
SPANISH 2 – (Dr Jimenez) — this is the second semester (the second part – I didn’t fail!) of Spanish 2. Among other things, we went over the Lord’s Prayer in Spanish (especially since the version in the Spanish Liturgy of the Hours books is completely different): [Lord’s Prayer in various languages]

OLD TESTAMENT – (Fr Michael) — discussed Major Prophets and practiced writing a Bio-Poem.
CULTURAL FOOD NIGHT — today was Chinese Food Night. — Great eating, even for the “Mail Men”!
DISCERNMENT GROUP – (Fr Manny) — a few of us Miami guys joined the monthly Miami Vocations Discernment Group on campus led by Miami Vocation Director Fr Manny Alvarez. Today was mostly older guys … great group of guys!
Panama food nite
CULTURAL FOOD NIGHT — today’s theme was “Panama.” Since there’s only 2 Panamanian seminarians here, a few of us (“honorary Panamanians“) helped Chef Ramon & Chef Randy to cook some great food, drinks and desert from Panama. They also showed a video on the “Panama Canal.” Lots of work … lots of Rum … lots of fun … and (again) lots of work. — I don’t know how the staff cooks 3 meals everyday for 70+ of us — God bless ’em!
