young adult retreat @ St Vincent DePaul Seminary
First time ever, the seminarians at St Vincent DePaul Regional Seminary in Boyton Beach, FL led a retreat open for young adult of the Palm Beach Diocese. I heard about it through my friends on FaceBook. It was a Spirit-filled retreat … simple schedule … 3 seminarian testimonies … deep small group discussion … Benediction & Adoration … and lots of social time.
Even though I couldn’t stay for the whole retreat, I’m grateful to have been invited and grateful to see by brother seminarians at their finest at “home.”
Hopefully, with their great turnout, they can do more events to not only reach out to the community, but keep vocations on everyone’s minds and prayers!
See the Florida Catholic article that promoted the events.
Here’s some pictures I took of their beautiful chapel on campus:
Pre-T chapels blessing
Our off-campus Pre-Theology homes were finally ready to have their individual chapels blessed. Each of the 2 homes have room designated as an adoration chapel with the Blessed Sacrament exposed (not yet … that’s Saturday morning Mass in our back yards). We have a red candle holder, holy water font, alter and tabernacle in each, so far.
Us 12 Pre-Theologian seminarians had Night Prayer together and then blessed each chapel seperately (with some book delays). — Beautiful.
St Brendan chapel + SJV chapel
After a long evening walk with some seminarian brothers, we stopped at St Brendan’s Catholic Church adoration chapel since it’s next door to the seminary grounds. Actually, last September 2007, this adoration chapel was the site of an alleged sillouette of the Holy Family on a white tapistry. The sillouette was cast by a shadow from a candle. The alleged event lasted a few day and even made it in the local Miami Herald. — this is my first time in the beautiful chapel myself.
I also took a picture a few days ago of one of our seminary adoration chapels on campus here at St John Vianney College Seminary. It’s located upstairs at the end of the hall of the seminary dormitory. — a great place to spend time with the Lord
McCarthy House + new worklist
NEW WORKLIST JOB — we got new semester “Worklist Jobs” (on Wed afternoons) and “House Jobs” (daily) today. For worklist, I am “Head of McCarthy House.” There are 4 of us seminarians that clean the priest residence & faculty offices. Garbage, sweep, mop, dust, vacuum, & stock fridge drinks. For house job, 2 of us have McCarthy House … basically we check on the house daily for minor clean-up and maintenance. — my favorite part is the beautiful McCarthy House Chapel
DOTS — “PB” left — Holy Hour incense — keep the Church in my discernment — MP3 curse
St Bonaventure Catholic Church in Davie or Weston, FL
Today, on mid-semester break, I went to St Bonaventure Catholic Church to pray in their chapel. I caught the end of their school childrens’ Mass with lively music (like “South to the NORTH!”) and a presentation for “Hispanic Heritage Month.” — nice Mass, but I didn’t recognize the Eucharistic Prayer for concecration … there must be a “children’s liturgy” I don’t know about.
After asking 3 people, I finally found the chapel for a holy hour. Very spacious, beautiful altar, stained glass and a side area with Mary & candles.
St Katherine Drexel Parish, Weston, FL
Today, while on mid-semester break, I went to St Katherine Drexel Parish in Weston for daily Mass. At 8:15am the Deacon led Morning Prayer and then did a Communion Service at 8:30am. A beautiful chapel to spend some time in.
St Bernadette Parish chapel, Hollywood, FL
Today, on mid-semester break, I spent some time at my home parish chapel at St Bernadette in Hollywood, FL.
