St Bonaventure Catholic Church in Davie or Weston, FL

Today, on mid-semester break, I went to St Bonaventure Catholic Church to pray in their chapel.  I caught the end of their school childrens’ Mass with lively music (like “South to the NORTH!”) and a presentation for “Hispanic Heritage Month.”  — nice Mass, but I didn’t recognize the Eucharistic Prayer for concecration … there must be a “children’s liturgy” I don’t know about.

After asking 3 people, I finally found the chapel for a holy hour. Very spacious, beautiful altar, stained glass and a side area with Mary & candles.

Trying to do as little as possible today.  But I do need to review more Spanish.

WEB SURFING — found a blog post by a Protestant author reflecting on demonic activities in An Exorcist Tells His Story by Gabriele Amorth.  He sounds very open to conversion.

TV — catching up on some “Office” & “Bionic Woman” episodes online from the NBC website.  Watched “The Unit” & “Cane” tonight.

St Bernadette Youth Mass ushersToday, while on mid-semester break, I stopped by my home parish @ St Bernadette in Hollywood.  I visited the afternoon RCIT (high school Confirmation preparation) class to discuss vocations & life in the seminary to almost 20 teens.  I joined them for the 6pm Youth Mass, with teen ushers, readers and more.  A great home visit!

class arm-wrestlingMODERN PHILOSOPHY – (Fr Santos) — Mid-term exam on John Locke.  3 essays.  — I think I did exceptionally well.

MID-TERM BREAK BEGINS — after, our last class today, we can leave for our weeklong break.  Without anymore tests and papers due, some of us need to keep busy doing anything … even arm-wrestling before class … all in brotherly fellowship (… I hope).

Visitation Parish in Miami, FLVISITATION PARISH — On my way driving home, I dropped off a seminarian staying at The Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Miami.  Fr Chris Marino is the pastor of a beautiful parish.  I saw the newly redone interior, but the lights were off, so I only took pictures outside.  There are also some great pictures on their website.  It’s also the former parish of my current Pastor Fr Dalton.

survived whitewater rafting

2007 Chattooga River raftingI’m back from a mini-vacation to Georgia for 2 days of whitewater rafting the Chattooga River with 3 friends.  The rafting was AWESOME and very eventful.  From “cave exploring” to “waterfall surfing” to “pothole diving” to cliffdiving to “slip-n-face-smashing” to “poisonous spider bite” to falling out into the unforgiving river (I, of course, lead in ejections).  There’s nothing like near-death experiences to help appreciate God’s creations, especially the “ability to breath.”  Like my shirt says, “Rafting is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”  And the other says, “In heaven the clouds are made of endless whitewater. Amen.”

2007 Chattooga River rafting reuniting siblings

Friday, we did section III of the Chattooga.  We ate dinner at the Mongolian BBQ Chinese Restaurant (good food).  On Saturday, after section IV, we walked the 550+ stairs in Tallulah Gorge State Park and ate dinner at the Dillard House (awesome food).  Our breakfasts were at the legendary Waffle House both days.

We also spend Sunday at “Six Flags Over Georgia” doing almost all the coasters, like Goliath, Batman, Superman, DejaVu, etc.  A great trip!  I dropped off some film today — hopefully they come out.

whitewater trip tomorrow

whitewater 2002 on Chattoogawhitewater 2002 on ChattoogaTomorrow night I leave on a road trip with 3 friends for 2 days of whitewater rafting on the Chattooga River (from the movie “Deliverance“) in Georgia.  Since I’ve only done it once (back in 2002) and I haven’t rafted in over 2 years, I’m ready for a hurtin’.  Just look at the pictures from last time (I’m the one falling out, of course).  I hope the seminary is wheelchair accessible.  I’ll be back Monday night.

(possibly final) Note: — if things go “well” (& I see Jesus), I’ll be waiting for everyone (you know who you are) in heaven (or I’ll hold a place in line in purgatory for ya) so “I’m sorry” (if I should be) and “be holy” (so I’m not waiting for eternity for ya) … loveCatholic Kermit!

I’m Mr “Procrastinator”

Since I need to replace a dead hard-drive, I started reviewing what’s taking so much space on my other hard-drives.  Most of my disk space is taken up by vacation videos I “haven’t got around to” edit yet.  I know I procrastinate, but this is ridiculous.  I have vacation videos from 2003 I haven’t edited yet, not to mention Cornerstone 2004, Cornerstone 2005, 2 trips to the Holyland in Orlando, and more.  Since I work best under pressure, I should promise to finish editing all video before going on any vacation!  But I don’t want to put that in stone just yet.  — Let me think about that one.
