RECTOR’s CONFERENCE – (Fr Alvarez) — for a change, our Vice Rector / Dean of Men did the conference for the whole house on Salesian Sprituality. He shared some great personal experiences on St John Bosco, Salesian Spirituality, his “Preventative” System of Education (promote love over punishment), his 3 Pillars (reason, religion & kindness … also music and games), and some application to our lives & ministries.
Love is all important. Be sure people feel loved.
Meet people where their at. And yourself as well.
It’s a spirituality that helps us realize we need to have fun!
Humanities conf
Tonight, we had our annual Humanities Conference. Our special guest was Fr Mark, a Dominican priest who teaches at Barry University. He did a great powerpoint presentation on “Visual Christianity: Interpreting the Theological Tradition.” Lots of architecture from Revena, Italy as well as Wahaka, Mexico.
Faith Fest in South Florida
FAITH FEST 2008 — the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami had a celebration of faith, music and community @ St Thomas University (in Miami Gardens) from 6pm til 12 Midnight. It usually focused on young adults, but everyone was welcome and present. Musically, it featured MATT MAHER & TOM BOOTH with Chris Wills from Radio Peace as MC. The evening closed with Mass and Candlelight Eucharistic Procession with Bishop Felipe J Estevez. Individual tickets were $10 and group discounts were available.
